Background  
Elgon FM is owned and operated by Nawajo Enterprises Ltd. The station was started in 2013. we broadcast on 101.4 frequency Modulation band in Mbale. We run 24-hour broadcast schedule with at least 18 hours of the live broadcast. We are located along Mugisu lane in Indian quarters Mbale, opposite Cure children’s hospital. We operate on the stereo the digital system with the help of a 2000kw transmitter sourced from Italy through Anxiel Company.

We have a strong signal Presence in at least 26 district in the Eastern part of Uganda that includes
Bugisu  zone:      Mbale, Bududa, Manafwa, Sironko, Bulambuli.
Bukedi Region: Tororo, Pallisa, Budaka, Kibuku, Butaleja, Busia
Busoga Region: Namutumba, Namayingo, Iganga, Jinja, Kamuli, Bugiri, kaliro, Mayuge, Buyende
Teso Region:     Soroti, Kumi, Bukedea, Ngora, katakwi 
Sebeii Region:   Kapchorwa, Bukwo
And Parts of       Western Kenya

Target Audience
The rural youthful community that is engaged in Business, Farming, Leadership, Formal and Informal Employment from the age of 20 to 45years.with specific target programs for children between 7 and 19 years and the elderly between 50 – 70 years

We commode majority listenership of the Lumasaaba speaking community in the above-mentioned district plus an additional audience in other District Totaling to 5 million people

  Three alleged sex workers have been picked from Bukedea town this afternoon by Teso COVID-19 surveillance team in conjunction with the police. The three women under their umbrella Bukedea Team No Sleep spent a night with the truck driver who tested positive for COVID - 19, recently. The driver made a night stop-over in Bukedea town before he proceeded up North a day after his samples were taken for testing from the Malaba border. A few days later he was informed of his Coronavirus status hence his interception from the Northern part of the country. According to the pandemic surveillance team, a couple of men (clients) within Bukedea who also came in contact with any of the three ladies will also be mapped and picked soon enough.

MBALE:RDC Vows To Arrest Journalists Who Misrepresent Facts On The Works Of The COVID-19 Taskforce.

By: Egonda Emmanuel Anelka Mbale Resident District Commissioner Suleiman Baraza Ogajo has threatened to arrest journalists who misrepresent facts regarding the work done by the District COVID-19 Task Force. Ogajo sounded the warning today while receiving more than seven tones of maize flour from Mbale District Woman Member of Parliament Connie Nakayenze Galiwango. Nakayenze also handed over sugar and salt. According to Ogajo, the Mbale District Task Force has done a commendable job and journalists must report the facts. Connie Nakayenze Galiwango the Mbale District Woman MP said that she has used the 20 million shillings given to every legislator to purchase food and other essential items. Nakayenze said she could not return the money yet several people in Mbale need food. Nakayenze also urged the District Task Forces countrywide not to politicize their work. She said that the country is battling the COVID-19 pandemic which is a matter of life and death and so politicking can wait.

Seven Laboratories Cleared To Start Testing For COVID-19 in Uganda

Until today, the country was only using the Entebbe based Uganda Virus Research Institute-UVRI to conduct COVID-19 tests. The new centres include Makerere University's department of microbiology and immunology, National Health Laboratory Services, the Infectious Disease Research Collaboration in Tororo district, the Uganda Virus Research Institute Plague Laboratory in Arua district, Gulu University, Rakai Health Sciences Laboratory and the Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital laboratory. According to the health ministry, the locations were chosen based on the dynamics of infection spread of the disease and the availability of testing reagents. Health Minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng announced this during the third national COVID-19 briefing held today in Kampala. She said that currently, the Uganda Virus Research Institute is running between 2000-3000 tests every day. However, with the addition of new laboratories, the county could run up to 10,000 tests.
