Bungokho North Muslims Receive Relief

Bungokho North Member of Parliament Gershom Sizomu Wambede has handed over one tone of maize flour to the Muslim community in his constituency during this holy month of Ramadan

The items were handed over to Mbale District Supreme Council by his brother Fazali Womugoda.

Wamugoda asked the Muslim leadership to ensure that the food gets to the vulnerable fasting Muslims. The items were handed over in Industrial area, Mbale.

Sheikh Abdul Nasoor Maseyi the In charge of Da’wa in Bugisu region who received the food on behalf of the District Kadhi applauded MP Gershom Wambede for the donation and promised to properly distribute it to the intended beneficiaries.

Seven Laboratories Cleared To Start Testing For COVID-19 in Uganda

Until today, the country was only using the Entebbe based Uganda Virus Research Institute-UVRI to conduct COVID-19 tests. The new centres include Makerere University's department of microbiology and immunology, National Health Laboratory Services, the Infectious Disease Research Collaboration in Tororo district, the Uganda Virus Research Institute Plague Laboratory in Arua district, Gulu University, Rakai Health Sciences Laboratory and the Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital laboratory. According to the health ministry, the locations were chosen based on the dynamics of infection spread of the disease and the availability of testing reagents. Health Minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng announced this during the third national COVID-19 briefing held today in Kampala. She said that currently, the Uganda Virus Research Institute is running between 2000-3000 tests every day. However, with the addition of new laboratories, the county could run up to 10,000 tests. Sironko Woman Member Of Parliament Donates To The District COVID-19 Task Force

The woman member of parliament for sironko district Nambozo Florence Mayoga has today handed over a donation of 4 Metric tons (4000kg) of Maize Flour and 100 cartons of Salt to Sironko district COVID-19 Taskforce towards the efforts to help the vulnerable people that are affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Nambozo further promised to give any other support that she will have come across, to the people of sironko saying it is not the end of her support to the people but rather a routine character of sharing with the people. She also noted that Giving to the vulnerable is a N oble cause to everyone and the fight against Covid-19 that has ravaged the world can't be fought by an individual but it has to be a collective effort in Solidarity,she has also called upon all other well-wishers and   organizations to come up and support the vulnerable Ugandans.
