No Member of Parliament Has received the 20million to fight COVID19-Nandala


Honourable Nathan Nandala Mafabi has Clarified on the 10B meant for Parliament to fight COVID19.in a message that he sent to several whatsapp groups he had this to say

Friends,
I wish to clarify on the alleged 20m given to Members of Parliament as follows;

I will start by informing the public that I have personally not received any 20million. If some MPs received the money, then it must have been a selective process which the Budget Committee and Parliamentary Commission need to clarify.

If its true as alleged that each MP has been given 20m, then it is very unfortunate and I will add that Uganda is doomed with such leadership!

Those who have been following my views on this Covid 19 situation, I have been and will continue advocating for equipping health units, protecting health workers and paying health workers better. I was very clear on this when i featured on Ntv's "On The Spot"

During the supplementary budget for Covid 19, I argued that all this money ought to be managed by Ministry of Health and stated that it was an opportunity for us as a country to equip hospitals and health units.

As usual, being the minority voice, we lost to the majority view.
I want to pledge afore that If at all am paid 20m which am hearing about I promise to add 10m and send it to Buwalasi Health unit to have it equipped with PPE's and basic health needs of the sick.
Luckily for me, while many people are crying out to their MPs for food, I want to thank my people of Budadiri West who are sending me bunches of Matooke and Bogoya.

They are all concerned that am locked down and I might die of hunger. They know that if am not locked down am always at their service.
With the little I have, I have continued sharing with my neighbours under distress and want to urge each of us to do so. This is not time for greed and self aggrandizement, I will retaliate that God should punish those people who are stealing items for distressed people and that God should also punish those who want to benefit at the expense of Ugandans.

Let's share what we have with those that don't; let's keep the social distancing; let's wash our hands. We shall defeat this Covid 19.

MBALE:RDC Vows To Arrest Journalists Who Misrepresent Facts On The Works Of The COVID-19 Taskforce.

By: Egonda Emmanuel Anelka Mbale Resident District Commissioner Suleiman Baraza Ogajo has threatened to arrest journalists who misrepresent facts regarding the work done by the District COVID-19 Task Force. Ogajo sounded the warning today while receiving more than seven tones of maize flour from Mbale District Woman Member of Parliament Connie Nakayenze Galiwango. Nakayenze also handed over sugar and salt. According to Ogajo, the Mbale District Task Force has done a commendable job and journalists must report the facts. Connie Nakayenze Galiwango the Mbale District Woman MP said that she has used the 20 million shillings given to every legislator to purchase food and other essential items. Nakayenze said she could not return the money yet several people in Mbale need food. Nakayenze also urged the District Task Forces countrywide not to politicize their work. She said that the country is battling the COVID-19 pandemic which is a matter of life and death and so politicking can wait.

Seven Laboratories Cleared To Start Testing For COVID-19 in Uganda

Until today, the country was only using the Entebbe based Uganda Virus Research Institute-UVRI to conduct COVID-19 tests. The new centres include Makerere University's department of microbiology and immunology, National Health Laboratory Services, the Infectious Disease Research Collaboration in Tororo district, the Uganda Virus Research Institute Plague Laboratory in Arua district, Gulu University, Rakai Health Sciences Laboratory and the Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital laboratory. According to the health ministry, the locations were chosen based on the dynamics of infection spread of the disease and the availability of testing reagents. Health Minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng announced this during the third national COVID-19 briefing held today in Kampala.
